Story

Luang Prabang Station is on the Lao–China Railway, which opened in December 2021 between Vientiane and Boten on the Chinese border. Trains run south to Vang Vieng and Vientiane and north towards Oudomxay and Boten. The station lies east of the town centre, about 10–12 km by road; vans and taxis meet arriving trains. Tickets require a passport and should be booked ahead, especially at holidays.
