Story

The road along the Mekong side of the peninsula offers shady trees, riverside cafés and views across to Chomphet district on the far bank. Long-tail boats and ferries tie up below the steep banks. It is a lovely place for an evening stroll as the sun sets over the river. Take care on the steps down to the water, which can be steep and slippery.

In the UNESCO heritage zone — The old-town peninsula is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 1995). Building height, materials and signage are regulated to protect its character.
