From dawn, the lanes near the Royal Palace fill with stalls selling vegetables, river fish, herbs, sticky rice and local snacks. It is a vivid window into everyday life and Lao food culture. Please ask before photographing vendors, and watch your step around produce laid out on the ground. Come early for the best atmosphere; trading winds down by mid-morning.
