🌿 Low-impact tip: this is an easy walk or bike ride from the old town.

Story

Kingkitsarath Road follows the Nam Khan on the south-eastern side of the peninsula, lined with guesthouses and cafés overlooking the smaller river. It is quieter than the Mekong side, with views of green hills and riverbank vegetable gardens tended in the dry season. Seasonal bamboo bridges cross the river nearby. Mornings and late afternoons are the most pleasant times to walk here.

In the UNESCO heritage zone — The old-town peninsula is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (since 1995). Building height, materials and signage are regulated to protect its character.
