Wat That Luang lies south-west of the old town centre. The temple is associated with the royal family, and its large central stupa is said to hold the ashes of King Sisavang Vong. Its grounds are spacious and peaceful, with far fewer visitors than the old-town temples. Temple fairs are held here on important Buddhist days.
